Prom Dress Shopping

We took Emily shopping for a prom dress today, she had found a shop on line called Fab Frocks so we trekked up to Bournemouth to have a look at the dresses. It lived up to its name, it really was full of fab frocks! She had seen one that she liked on line, a pale turquoise, she tried it on and the actual style looked stunning on her but the colour was too pale and just washed her out. She tried the purple version on but purple isn't really her colour either and she was determined to have blue of some description. The assistant went to do some research and came back to say that they could get the dress in indigo blue! As you can see below Emily felt a million dollars in this dress (despite the purple colour) and will have her indigo blue version in about a months time ready for her prom in July.

On our way home we stopped at a lovely park and I managed to get a few photos of Emily, I have so few recent ones of her as she rarely comes out with us now (not always cool to be out with your parents when you are nearly 16 lol) and when she does having her photo taken isn't high on her list of priorities. I am really pleased with these two.

I know Emily isn't smiling in this photo but both Justin and I loved it as it is a typical Emily look!

White Space

A few weeks ago I showed you a sneak peek of one of the pages that I created using this months Sarah's Cards kit so I thought I had better show you the whole page! I absolutely love this kit, it is full of gorgeous October Afternoon Modern Homemaker papers and lots of really fun embellishments.
I find that the majority of my pages nowadays end up with the whole of the 12x12 space being filled in some way or other so I wanted to try and create a page with lots of white space. This was the result!

Class

As you probably know we had the Sarah's Cards retreat a few weeks ago and I taught a vintage inspired class (with butterflies of course!!) so I thought I would show you the page I created.

I love this photo of my Grandma, the story goes that she was walking through Bournemouth with her father when they were stopped by a photographer. He asked my Great Grandpa if he could take some photos of Grandma and use them for advertising in his shop, he agreed and we have now got a wonderful collection of photos taken on that day back in 1921.
Thank you for all the lovely comments about the photos that I took at the weekend, I have ordered some of them from photobox and hopefully they will be landing on the mat in the next few days!

Scrapping Material

I don't have any scrapping to share with you but I did take some photos today that will soon end up on a page! We made the most of the sunshine today and went for a little stroll around Moreton, it is a lovely little village and the light was just right for taking pictures. Emily has gone to Thorpe Park to celebrate two of her friends 16th so we just had Rebecca with us but she was very good about my constant demands bless her. Anyway here are a few of my favourites.
Where we parked the car there was a lovely wall, that may sound strange but it was a perfect background for some pictures of Rebecca.

Once Justin and Rebecca dragged me away from my lovely wall I came across some beautiful daffodils, definitely worth a photo.

Always a joker!!

Daddy's girl.

Just got to get these printed off now!

The Big Day

My pages are obviously usually a bit girlie having two daughters and being a bit partial to pink but every so often I scrap a photo of my lovely little nephew Josh. He really loves me scrapping photos of him, the other day I showed him a page I had done and he asked if it was going to be "in the magazine". I explained that it was for Sarah's Cards kit and that lots of ladies would see his photo, his reply was "I am so glad you're my Aunty" He did make me laugh!
At the retreat Sarah and Lianne set a few fun challenges, one of them was a sketch, there were some fab prizes for the delegates but the DT decided to have a go just for fun. All of the other DT pages are over on Sarah's Cards blog if you fancy having a look. Here is the page that I created using gorgeous MME Hattie papers, I absolutely fell in love with all three ranges they are just gorgeous!!

I really must add some journaling onto this page, the photo was taken at my sister's wedding, Josh was watching his Mum and Dad say their vows.

Creative Cardmaking

Before Christmas I was really thrilled to be asked to make some cards for Creative Cardmaking magazine featuring hand made flowers, there are so many ways to create flowers I had great fun putting them together. I haven't been able to get a copy of the magazine as our WHSmiths don't seem to stock it but I thought I would share the cards that I made with you.

Sketch Challenge

This months sketch challenge has just gone up over on Sarah's Cards blog, the sketch was designed by Vanessa is great as it is so versatile.

I had a play with the sketch when I was away at the retreat at the weekend, I had been talking to Cathy about freckles (can't remember why!) anyway she told me about this lovely saying and I knew that I just had to use it with this photo of Emily, which I had printed off especially because it showed her lovely fairy kisses. I have used some of the new Sassafras Ellie's Tale papers and a sheet of Starters paper.
Gems challenged me to use one of her maya sheers on the page, she had been struggling with them but I have to say I love them so had no problem adding one to my page lol.

,

If you fancy joining in all the details can be found here, you could win a £10 e-voucher to spend at Sarah's Cards which can't be bad especially if you look at all the new lines that are coming in soon!

What A Weekend!!

I can't believe the weekend is over already after all the planning and anticipation! It was an amazing weekend, Sarah. Lianne and all the DT girls are just so lovely and whenever we get together we always have such a fab time. I don't think I have laughed so much since the last time we were all together in November! It was lovely to catch up with friends from last year and also make new ones, isn't it great to meet up with people who share and understand our passion for paper!
I didn't actually take many photos which is really bad but I thought I would share of few of the ones that I did take!
As with last years retreat, the shop was amazing with some gorgeous lines to tempt us all. This is just one corner of the shop with an American Crafts wall and then moving around to WRMK and Sassafras.

We had some make and takes going on in between classes which took place in the shop hence the table! You can just see the lovely Vanessa in the background stocking the shelves.

The lovely Nat and Jen, this was the first time Jen had been away from her little baby Benjamin but she did amazingly well.

I haven't taught since the last retreat last March so the nerves were kicking in big time on Friday night before my first class. Everyone seemed to enjoy the class even if the thought of screwing up paper was a bit too much to take lol.

I did manage to do a bit of scrapping, 2 3/4 pages in fact which is pretty good going for me! This is the only one I can share for the time being though. I used more gorgeous Websters Pages, Wonderfall papers, I am fast falling in love with them they are such fun to use........well they are if you enjoy hand cutting! I had bought the collection pack which came with a sheet of stickers, I think they were the most usable stickers that I have ever had with a collection I used five on this one page!

I couldn't help adding a few butterflies.
